Social media is dying. Long live blogging?

It’s New Year’s Eve 2022, and I’m impulsively setting up a blog like it’s 2012. Except it’s not 2012. The world is more different in the past decade than in any decade previous in my lifetime. The world has many needs, some met, many not. One of those needs is to normalize neurodiversity. I don’t speak for the neurodiverse population, I only speak for myself. In a world that continues to blame mental illness for violence, I choose to show what mental illness can look and feel like, for me, a mother and writer.

In late October, I downloaded and deleted my Twitter account, then downloaded my Instagram and Facebook accounts. As I move away from those likely-dying forms of personal expression, I choose blogging.
